Today I will be discussing some of my favorite fitness apps ! I would also really appreciate your comments and suggestions for fitness apps that I should look into.
The first app up to bat is N+TC or the Nike Training Club App:
About the App: This app provides timed circuit training workouts for women on the go. After downloading the app you get to customize your workout experience by choosing from different categories within the app. First you pick the type of training you wish to do by choosing from the following categories: Get Lean, Get Toned, Get Strong, and Get Focused. The categories Get Lean, Get Toned, and Get Strong all provide 30 to 45 minute circuits that focus on the entire body. The Get Focused category has workouts that are 15 minutes each and focus on a particular body part. For the girl short on time, and bound and determined to improve a specific area of their body this category is a life saver. After choosing the category of workout type you will then need to choose a difficulty level. Your choices are Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. (A word of warning to those just getting started on their road to fitness, this app is hard. Nike does not mess around and even though I have been using this app for over two years I choose to workout on the Intermediate Level.) One of the cool features of this app is that if you have a workout playlist on your phone or Ipod this app will synch that playlist to your workouts. You can start a personalized workout program with the app and earn Nike Fuel Points. This app allows you to create a profile, set goals, and communicate with a community focused on fitness.
Reviews: After recommending this app to many of my friends I asked them for feedback and to rate the app on a 1-5 scale. (1 being awful, 5 being awesome)
"I give this app a 4.5! It is such a great workout and really easy to use!"
"Overall I would give this app a 3, because I had to get in shape before I could use it, but now I love it."
"This app deserves a 5! Without it I would not have been ready for summer."

The Next App we will discuss is called Charity Miles:
About the App: This app is the winner of the SXSW Dewey Wilburne Interactive Award and was something I could not believe when I first discovered it. What this app allows you to do is to choose a charity before you bike, walk, or run and then depending how far you go you will earn money for said charity. Every mile biked is worth 10 cents and every mile run or walked is worth 25 cents. This app is easy to use and tracks your phone via GPS to see how far you have gone. It allows for you to both get a workout in and give back to a charity of your choice. Like Nike Training Club this app allows you to join a team or set goals for yourself. I have used this app for over a year now and love the feeling of giving back while doing something I love. One of the differences between this app and the Nike Training Club App is the ability to go at your own pace and decide on how much activity you wish to do.

"5! I love being able to give to the ASPCA just by going for a walk."
"This app is such a cool idea and really easy to use! I give it a 5"
"I love the idea, but because the app does not have a feature for running or walking on a treadmill I give it a 3."
